Abstract
Tocopherol and oryzanol are fat soluble bioactives, known to have health beneficial effect, whose stability need to be retained for proper functioning. With this regard, liposome, a biocompatible vehicle can be used for safe delivery of the bioactives. Current work was focused on egg lecithin in combination with cholesterol as liposome for the encapsulation of tocopherols and oryzanol and studied the morphology as well as characterization of prepared liposome using phase contrast microscopy, particle size analyzer, FT-IR, HPLC and UV spectrophotometer. The obtained results confirmed that, the encapsulated particles were spherical and entrapped bioactives. Liposome was treated with specific gastrointestinal enzymes for the lecithin to release the entrapped bioactives with dose dependent manner. Particles when exposed to diverse pH, there was no release of bioactives, indicating its stability.
