Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: Reactions in supercritical medium has become a focus of intensive research in the scientific world today mainly because of the enhancement in the selectivity and/or rate of the reaction due to characteristics of the solvent which can be easily modified by changing the pressure and temperature since most of their properties are density dependent which in turn depends on temperature and pressure. Soloanesyl Oleate, which had been recently found to have much effective anti ulcer properties than the contemporary anti ulcer drugs, was made in the sub critical region using oleyl chloride and solanesol. The product, which was obtained, was characterized by NMR and it was concluded that the reaction could also be conducted using sub critical carbon dioxide instead of using organic solvents like benzene and toluene, which are toxic in nature.
