Abstract
Standardization of a method for the isolation of high mol. wt. DNA from the young leaves of 3 different species of Coffea L. (C. arabica L. (Rume Sudan), C. racemosa and C. congensis) is described. Optimization of components and conditions for PCR amplification using the DNA of C. arabica as template are also described. It is suggested that the standardized method may be used to generate fingerprint profiles of coffee physiologic types to show distinctions at the DNA level.
