Abstract
For 4 weeks adult Wistar rats were given a diet with refined groundnut oil 10, cholesterol 0.5 and bile acids 0.5% with 10% protein supplied by casein or dried Spirulina platensis without or with 0.03% methionine or 15% protein supplied by S. platensis. Serum cholesterol in the 4 groups was 257, 234, 229 and 220 mg/100 ml, respectively; liver cholesterol was 49, 44, 41 and 37 mg/g.
