Additional Information: |
The present study deals with the assessment of karanjin in whole seed karanja meal after oil extraction. Methanolic extraction and separation of karanjin is carried out by column chromatography followed by HPLC. The meal constituents and other antinutritional components present in the meal are also studied. Quantification of antinutritional components in the meal studied are karanjin, tannins, phytates and trypsin inhibitors found to be 1.9%, 0.94%, 0.64% and 31 TIU/ mg sample respectively. Removal of karanjin has been approached by different methods of recovery of oil resulting in the reduction of karanjin from 1.9% to 0.3%.
|
