Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: Two simple, sensitive, selective and reproducible spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the determination of triclosan. The proposed methods are based on the coupling of triclosan with p-Nitrobenzenediazoniumtetrafluroborate in alkaline medium at room temperature which yields pink coloured product having the absorption maximum at 530nm and with dapsone in alkaline solution at 0-40C which yields orange coloured product having the absorption maximum at 480 nm. Beer’s Law was obeyed in the concentration ranges 0.1 – 20 μg ml-1 and 2-40 μg ml-1 for p-Nitrobenzenediazoniumtetrafluroborate and dapsone respectively. The molar absorptivity is 1.9297 × 104 L ml-1 cm-1 and 1.9324 × 104 L ml-1 cm-1 for p-Nitrobenzenediazoniumtetrafluroborate and dapsone respectively. Sandell’s sensitivity is 0.0227 μg ml-2 and 0.0439 μg ml-2 for p-Nitrobenzenediazoniumtetrafluroborate and dapsone respectively.
