Abstract
Emerging advancements in information and communication arena has provided the library community great opportunities to explore innovative ways to invent and re-invent library services to meet ever changing user expectations. The advent of electronic publishing and digital communication has not only influenced the way information is processed, stored and disseminated by libraries but also changed the users’ preference in accessing it. This article describes the design and implementation of a Campus-Wide Document Delivery (CWDD) service for the benefit of the R&D community at the CFTRI Library. This service intends to provide access to electronic copies of research articles from the library’s print holdings to the patrons’ desktop by digitizing the required items on demand. The ultimate goal of undertaking this project is to increase access to the library’s rich print collection of periodicals in a user friendly approach, thus saving not only investment in archival contents but also reach out to library patrons in their information requirements.
