Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: Different varieties of Chiba seed powders (Psoralea corylifolia) were analyzed. Variety-I was used for supercritical carbon dioxide extraction as the bakuchiol content was found to be higher. Supercritical Fluid carbon dioxide Extraction (SCF CO2) of the seed powder was carried out at three different temperatures and pressures for obtaining higher yield of bakuchiol. Fixed bed Extraction Modeling was done based on steady state mass transfer and the overall mass transfer coefficients were evaluated. Two stage molecular Distillation of SCF CO2 Chiba seed extract was used for concentrating the bakuchiol. Supercritical samples and Molecular Distilled samples were characterized through HPLC and LC-MS. Isolation and purification of psoralen and isopsoralen and their structures were conformed by NMR spectral studies.
Uncontrolled Keywords: Psoralea Corylifolia bioactive compounds supercritical carbon dioxide extraction
