Abstract
One of the most crucial factors influencing profitability in marketing of fruits at places far away from the site of production is the post-harvest life of the commodity at ambient conditions. Litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn) is a highly priced sub-tropical fruit in great demand in the European market. Export trade is therefore gaining considerable importance. One of the major problems during post-harvest handling, transport and/or storage is browning of the rind, besides curtailment of fruit storage life by ageing and decay. Litchis can be stored for about 3 days under ambient conditions (20-35
