Abstract

For 4 weeks Wistar rats weighing 200 to 220 g were given to appetite a diet with refined groundnut oil 10, cholesterol 0.5 and bile acids 0.5% with 10% casein or 10 or 15% protein supplied by the alga Scenedesmus acutus. Serum cholesterol for the 3 groups was 251.9, 121.2 and 94.2 mg/100 ml, respectively, and liver cholesterol was 47.58, 39.68 and 34.26 mg/100 g.
