Additional Information: | Glycerides, also known as acylglycerols or neutral fats are important components in the field of lipid sciences. Their synthesis has been a subject of intense research over the past century. Although Organic and Inorganic reagents have been preferred to catalyze this esterification reaction, at least in the industrial preparations, biochemical catalysts have proved to be as effective. Fresh rice bran powder as a source of lipase enzyme has shown some promise in catalyzing this reaction. This report discusses the effective of fresh bran enzyme in catalyzing this reaction under various reaction conditions. The paper will discuss the progress of the esterification of glycerol with short and medium chain fatty acids, in the presence of fresh bran powder. |
