Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: The first part of the report deals with standardizing an alternate method for lipid estimation in bio-organisms such as algae. As a promising source of bio fuel, algae has drawn more and more attention, while rapid screening of enhanced lipid and estimation becomes essential. Here we have tried to standardize nile red dye method for quantitative measurement of neutral lipids in various algae. Our data implied that sensitivity and versatility enable this method a useful tool in optimizing culture and accumulation condition for lipid powder. The second part of the project involves collection of data regarding the growth of algae culture in a photo bio-reactor. It involves maintaining the bio-reactor and continuously monitoring whether the growth is uniform and the culture doesn’t get contaminated.
