Abstract

The PER of a poor ~ice diet (PRO) increased only
slightly by supplement9tion With lysine or threonine but
addition of methionine increased the PER to a significant
extent from 2.52 to 2.97. Addition of a mixture of lysine +
methionine, lysine +'threonine. and me thionine + threonine
brought, about highly slgnitlcantlncreases 1n the PER to
3.22, 3.46 and 3.13 respectively. Addition of a mixture of
the above three limiting amino acids resulted in a further
significant increase in the PER to 3.63. The results
indicate that methionine is the most limj.ting amino acid in
poor rice diet, followed by lysine and threonine
