Abstract
<p align="justify">Food Laws and regulations existedin some form in most ancient cultures which deal with food safety andconsumer concerns. Many scholarsand theologians believe that Mosaicdietary laws were written partiallybecause of food safety concerns. Foodlaws are mentioned in very old Chinesedocuments; Ayurveda deals with foodsafety. Chanakya's Arthashastra (375BC) describes punishments to be givento persons selling adulterated oils andspices. Records from Greece andRome also indicate that unwholesomeand adulterated food was a problem to them</p>
