Additional Information: | The biosynthetic pathway of theobromine and caffeine has been the subject of much study over the years. Caffeine is synthesized through three sequential steps catalyzed by N- Methyltransferases (NMT). The studies on NMT gene structure and organization particularly on introns and exons may shed light on the functional divergence of the gene and its differential expression in different species of Coffee. |
