Additional Information: | In the context of assessing the batch solvent extraction–cum-desolventisation unit, we also studied the working of the automatic boiler, batch room temperature solvent extraction units, batch distillation unit, etc. We studied the extraction efficiency with respect to time and temperature, while working in two different modes of extraction. Extraction of oil from wheat bran, soya flakes and mustard was studied and compared with the laboratory set up of soxhlet apparatus used for oil estimation. We also noted the solvent requirement, solvent loss, use of vacuum and condenser water in the system. Some modifications were also suggested. |
