Abstract

The objective is the development of an Immunobiosensor. Antibodies are produced against ethyl and methyl parathion, 2-4D and Atrazine. When pesticides enter the body. conditions for immobilization of the antibodies on suitable solid support have been standardized. The concept of detection of pesticides based on chemiluminescence (CL) where in the required sensitivity at sub-nanogram level could be detected is employed. A critical factor in lummuno sensors development is the stabilization of the enzyme conjugate at nanomole concentration for use with biosensor. This posed a considerable challenge ,But after several attempts this could also be achieved. Basic information on the production and immobilization of antibodies and date on several parametric optimization of the bioreactor column and sensor performance have been generated. It was felt that the results achieved so far should be pursued towards construction of an integrated biosensor device for application and commercialization . The technique involved in this project is effective and it is possible to produce the biosensor device for measurement of pesticide with adequate (ppt level ) sensitivity using the chemiluminescence method of detection.
