Abstract

Important characteristics, synthesis, and the use- pattern of pirimiphos methyl (PM), a broad spectrum organophosphorus insecticide, have been discussed. PM has emerged as an alternative to malathion as it is relatively more effective against target species and equally safe to non-target species. Although PM is being used for the control of insect pests in households, agricultural and public health environments, the current emphasis in its use is on grains storage.
