Additional Information: <p align="justify">The antimicrobial activity has been focused in many research field food science, wood science, soil science, plant pathology, pharmacology, and human and animal nutrition. Antimicrobials of plant origin are of interest to the pharmaceutical industry for the control of microbial pathogens. Although the introduction of antibiotics dramatically improves the treatment of bacterial infections, the emergence of antibiotic resistance strains of bacteria has led to the continuing search for useful natural antimicrobials.In the present study attempts have been made to study the antibacterial properties of the extracts from the fruit rinds of Garcinia xanthochymus for their possible use as food preservatives and to study their possible mode of action.</p>
