Abstract

larvae of Corcyra cephalonica Staint and Tribotium castuneum Herbst were allowed to grow in media containing radioactive tricalcium phosphate compounds- Wa or saP prepared in the laboratory. Haemolymph and muscle-cuticle complex showed high accumulation of Wa and saP. The radioactivity retained by the tissues increased with time and was highest between 24 and 72 hr. Considerable radioactivity was still detected even 6 days after shifting the Corcyra larvae to a non-radioactive medium. The results indicate that the inhibitory effects reported earlier are a result of uptake of the compound and not due to inanition.
