Abstract

A study was undertaken to investigate the relative efficacy of six growth regulating chemicals. namely, oI..-llapthaJene a<:etic acid (NAA); parachlorophenophenoxy acetic acid (PCPA); gibberellic acid (GA); 2, 4, S-tdchlOV>Phenoxy acetic acid; maleic hy~ide-40 (MH) and Planofix, with two carriers namely, Waxol-O and water, sprayed 7 days prior to harvest, on the control of post-harvest berry drop in Bana;a1ore blue grapes. 0(-NAA proved IRlperior to others in checki.ng berry drop during transit and also during storage at ordinary room as well as cold storage conditions. A concentration or 100 p.p.m. was found to be optimum, although a concentration as high as 2SO p.p.m. did not have any deleterious effects on the vines or bunches.
