Abstract

An oil in water emulsion containing Lindane and DDT, with a high degree of persistence and insecticidal effectiveness, has been standardized for spray treating empty gunny bags to render them insect-proof. The technique developed for large scale insect_proofing of gunny bags and other fabrics is described. Both new and old gunny bags can be made insect_proof for storage of food grains free from insect infestation under rural and urban conditions. The cost of treatment works out to about 9 nP. per gunny bag.
