Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: Worldwide efforts have been taken on the development of bioanalytical devices that can be used for the detection, quantification and monitoring of specific chemical species. In this context biosensors represent an emerging trend in the diagnostics industry. Various types of biosensors are developed according to the requirements in different fields. Biosensors have applications in many areas such as biotechnology, health care, pesticide analysis, food and agriculture product monitoring, pharmaceuticals industry and defense. Immunosensors based on binding interactions between immobilized biomolecules (antibody/antigen) on a transducer surface with the analyte of interest resulting in detectable signal are developed for pesticide analysis. The sensor system takes advantage of the high selectivity provided by the molecular recognition characteristics of an antibody, which binds, reversibly with the specific antigen. Techniques like Immuno Chemiluminescence and Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbant Assay (ELISA) are used in the development of biosensors for pollution control. This report also discusses about Tea Biosensor, which helps to evaluate the product and establish conditions for processing and quality control.
Uncontrolled Keywords: Biosensors, Immobilization, Chemiluminesence, Amperometry, Methyl Parathion, Atrazine, Luminometer, Photomultiplier tube, tea polyphenols.
