Abstract

A new polyisoprenylated phenolic pigment, garcinol, and its colourless isomer, isogarcinol, have been isolated from Garcinia indica and their structures proposed on the basis of chemical and spectral data. A modification is suggested for the recently proposed structure of camboginol.
