Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: LABs are a group of bacteria which are gaining more importance in the field of food technology. They also find applications in other important fields, mainly because of their ability to produce antimicrobial peptides widely called as "Bacteriocins". In this study, the 16S rRNA gene was cloned in pTZ vector .The pTZ vector is a T - tailed vector with a size of 2.8 Kb which provides an efficient system for cloning of PCR product that was generated by Taq DNA polymerase. This recombinant plasmid was transformed in E.coli DH5a and transformants were analysed. 16S rRNA is now a days used widely as a tool for Molecular Biology studies. This is used as the basic tool for the characterization studies in this work. The bacteriocins are analysed by biochemical methods .
