Abstract

The vitamin Bl~ potency of proteolysed liver extracts deteriorates on storage, the loss being about 87 per cent in samples stored for 6 months. Light and air are the prhnary agents atrecting stability. Light converts cyanocobal~ amln to hydroxocobalamIn which in the pre~ sence of air gradually loses Its vitamin activIty. The Vitamin remains stable when stored in a completely fiUed sealed bottle or in bottles sealed after evacuation ot after filling with an inert gas.
