Abstract
Strained baby foods based on fruits and vegetables have become highly popular in recent years in different parts of the world. Canned samples of strained fruit and vegetable pulps and fruit custards, prepared in the laboratory from indigenous fruits and vegetables, compare favourably in composition, mineral and vitamin contents with similar products manufactured in other countries. Strained mango and papaya pulps are rich sources of ,Beta carotene. The Nendran variety of banana contains beta-carotene and is also rich in thiamine unlike the other varieties.
