Abstract
Coordination compounds of silicophosphates, viz. 2 forms of tricalcium trisilicophosphate (i) CSP-332, bulk density (b.d.) 0.28 g/ml and (ii) CSP-332A, b.d. 0.16 g/ml, its hydrogen form (iii) CSP-332H, b.d. 0.14 g/ml, (iv) monocalcium silicophosphate, CSP-112, and (v) its hydrogen form, CSP-112H, were tested for their effect on the development of 5 stored grain pests, i.e. Tribolium castaneum (TC), Rhizopertha dominica (RD), Oryzaephilus surinamensis (OS), Sitophilus oryzae (SO) and Trogoderma granarium (TG) in milled rice. Effects of the insecticides, used at levels of 0.3, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5%, on insect mortality, extended developmental period, retarded growth, and lowered rate of progeny emergence are shown in tables. (iii) effectively controlled all 5 pests at 1.0 and 1.5% concn., the higher level being needed for SO. Effective control was given by 1.0% of (ii) and 1.5% of (v) against TC, 1.0% of (ii), 1.0% of (v) and 1.5% of (i) against OS, and 1.5% of (ii) and (v) against TG. (iv) was ineffective.
