Abstract

This is a report of a survey conducted by the authors' institute in 1972-1973. After briefly reviewing the development of alcohol industry in India, the authors describe the mode of utilization/disposal of distillery wastes and the chemical composition of distillery spent wash and yeast sludge. By-products of the brewing industry, including their utilization, are also covered.
