Abstract

Kaffir corn (Sorghum vulgare) infested with Sitophilus oryzae, and green gram infested with Callosobruchus chinensis were stored for 3 and 4 months, respectively. During the storage period the uric acid content in kaffir corn rose to 90.6 mg/100 g, and to 213.0 mg/100 g in green gram. The protein efficiency ratio of an infested 3:1 blend of kaffir corn and green gram decreased from 2.27 to 1.70 after 4 wk storage, while that of a 1:1 blend decreased from 2.52 to 1.89.
