Abstract
The use of plastics containers as alternatives to metal or glass is reviewed, including sections on materials and methods of manufacture for plastics containers, toxicity, research developments and the code of practice for safety in use. Specifications for the use of additives in plastics as recommended by the UK (BIBRA), USA and Federal Republic of Germany are tabulated by polymer class, food type and max. level of use.
