Abstract

Typical fruit and vegetable products were packed in cans made from 4 different types of tinplate - Rourkela (composition is given), charcoal no.2, American hot-dipped and British 1 lb electrolytic. The cans were stored at room temp. and at 37 degree C for 15 months and examined periodically. Rourkela hot-dipped tinplate was found to be suitable for packing non-critical products such as peas, beans, jams, etc. All results are shown.
