Abstract

Laboratory studies in India are described in which 5 organophosphorus and 3 pyrethroid insecticides were tested for synergistic effects on permethrin against house-flies [Musca domestica]. Bromophos [Nexion], dichorvos [DDVP], fenitrothion [Sumithion], methyl-parathion [parathion-methyl], cypermethrin and fenvalerate all showed some degree of synergism, especially parathion-methyl and fenvalerate which increased the toxicity of permethrin 5-fold. Deltamethrin [decamethrin] showed a marked antagonistic effect.
