Abstract
Addition of a low-cost protein food consisting of wheat flour 70%, soya flour 15 and groundnut flour 15, supplemented with vitamins and minerals, to poor diets based on rice and ragi to provide 1.5 and 3.0% extra protein, improved the growth rate of albino rats. The efficiency ratio of the proteins of the diets also improved. The values obtained were comparable to that of skimmed milk powder.
