This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: Water is the most essential chemical Compound which has wide and variety of uses. The most important is its use for the purpose of drinking and agricultural purpose. The presences of toxic minerals in the water pose a serious threat to the human kind because of its toxicity and carcinogenicity. Arsenic is a ubiquitous element which occurs widely in the earth’s crust. It commonly occurs a toxic contaminant in water. Severe cases of Arsenic toxicity have been identified in many parts of the world. Its effects are seen more in the people who consume ground water than people who consume surface water. Fluorine is the most electronegative element among the halogens. It occurs widely in the earth’s crust in the form of various minerals. Fluorosis is predominant in various parts of India where concentration of Fluoride is more than 6.0ppm. Excess presence of Fluoride causes Dental Fluorosis and Skeletal Fluorosis. An attempt was made to analyze water samples collected from Bore wells (Hand Pumps) present in and around Mysore district for Arsenic and Fluoride. Analytical method validation is an important requirement in the practice of chemical analysis. It tells whether the method is fit for the purpose and produce valid results. An attempt is made to validate the method for the estimation of Fluoride by UVVisible spectrophotometer. The validation parameters like Range, Linearity, Specificity, Recovery, Precision, Ruggedness and Robustness are evaluated to check the validity of the method.
