Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: A laboratory experiment was conducted using two purified fungal cultures of entomopathogens i.e., Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae alone and two doses of pesticides (10 ppm and 50 ppm) alone and in combination of both against Rhizopertha dominica (lesser grain borer). Two sets of toxicity tests were conducted(i).Direct treatment to the seed itself and (ii).contact toxicity. The results indicate that the contact toxicity has shown greater percentage of insect mortality than seed treatment. Further, individual treatment as well as combined treatment of 50 ppm of all pesticides (except phorate), has shown higher mortality than other treatments. And also, 10 ppm concentration of endosulfan and quinolphos has shown higher percentage mortality than other two pesticides (phorate and malathion). However, no synergistic effect was noticed when entomopathogens were treated along with chemical pesticides.
