Abstract

This Dissertation / Report is the outcome of investigation carried out by the creator(s) / author(s) at the department/division of Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore mentioned below in this page.

Item Type: Student Project Report
Additional Information: In this project an attempt has been made using LabView 7.1 as a platform for non-destructive evaluation of external quality of some commercial fruits using Image Processing techniques. In detail the following techniques were used viz. 1) extracting color planes, 2) thresholding, 3) morphological techniques(erosion, dilation, hole filling, convex hull, etc.), 4)particle analysis. For the experimental purpose, mango variety “Sindhura” was selected and all the images were taken under constant illumination and camera angles for the entire period of study. More emphasis was given to physical features such as size, shape, color, bruises, presence of spots, diseases, etc. A user interface has been created to allow easy and interactive handling of the application which incorporates all the defined operations for all fruits.
Uncontrolled Keywords: Non-destructive, quality, image, vision, sindhura, major axis, eccentricity, color planes, gamma correction, thresholding, erosion, dilation, hole filling, convex hull, skeletonization, particle filter, classifier, particle measurement, LabView.
