Abstract
The diacyl glycerol oil (DAG oil) is a versatile oil/fat
which does not accumulate in the body when
consumed unlike the normal triacyl glycerol oils/fats
(for ex., oils and fats). Diacyl glycerol oils have been
prepared by using edible oils or fatty acids and its
consumption has been shown to provide antiobesity
effect in experimental animals and human volunteers.
The level of consumption of DAG oil has been studied
upto 10g/day of a 60kg adult to provide antiobesity
effect in clinical trials and is reported to be safe and
does not impair vitamin absorption. The oil has a
future for promoting body weight management.
