Abstract
The application of dietary bioactive peptides has increased in nutraceutical and
pharmaceutical research to manage lifestyle diseases, including Type 2 Diabetes
Mellitus (T2D) and its related complications. One of the key reasons for the
postprandial chronic hyperglycemic condition during T2D is the early degradation of
incretin hormones, by an enzyme Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), which shows
increased enzyme activity during diabetes. In this study, we generated the low
molecular weight bioactive peptides from Sorghum bicolor seed proteins using
gastrointestinal simulation model followed by membrane centrifugation.
