Abstract
Plant. Decalepis hamiltonii Wight. et Arn.�Asclepiadaceae.root collected from the Gumballi forest range, located between 11]138N and 77]788E, south-east corner of Mysore district, in April 1994 and identified by a taxonomist in the Herbarium of Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra, B.R. Hills, Mysore where a voucher specimen is deposited. Uses in traditional medicine. As flavouring principle w1,2x, appetizer and blood purifier w3x, preservative w4x. Previously isolated classes of compounds. b-Resorcylaldehyde, inositol, steroids, saponins, tannins and fatty estersw5,6x.
