Abstract

Studies on the specific defects in the metabolism of
amino acid8 in Protein malnutrition are of recent origin.
Whitehead(l961, 1962) has reported the increased excretion of
hiatidine and Urocanic acid in children with Protein malnutrition.
The cause for this abnormal excretion of histidine and
urocanic acid in kwashiorkor ir not known at the present time.
The present inveetigations are concerned with the metaboliem of
histidine in albino rat8 under condition6 of experimental protein
malnutrition.
