Abstract
Arrhenius piots for mitochondrial succinoxidase and succinate dehydro~enase activities from ~erminated seeds of elcer arietinurn and Ph-aseolus radlatus were discontinuous with a transition temperature around 20°C, whereas those froID Plwseolus mungo and fresh beans of Phaseolus vulgaris were linear with uniform activation ener~y over the temperature ran~e studied. These plots for mitochondrial succinate dehydrogenase activities froID pulp of Mangi. fera indica and Musa sapientum were discontinuous in their precli.m.acteric stage and linear when they approached climacteric maximum. When M. sapientum fruits were stored at low temperature, even in precIimacterlc stage the succinate dehydrogenase activity plots were continuous and did not revert to discontinuous behaviour even when the fruits were transferred to room temperature for ripening after five days of storage at 13°C,
