Abstract

The commonly used (i) Ripper's Iodometric Titration Method and (ii) distillation methods using iodine, for estimating SO2 in fruit beverages do not give accurate results due to inherent errors, when compared with (iii) the Monier-Williams method modified by Shipton. However, a large number of samples can be analysed by (i) using ordinary reagents. The predicted values of SO2 calculated on the basis of a linear regression equation approximated those obtained by (iii).
