Abstract
A photometric method for the determination
of organic sulphur in asafoetida has been described. The procedure involves reduction of
an aqueous emulsion of the sample with zinc
and sulphuric acid and subsequent reaction
oIthe hydrogen sulphide formed with p-amino·
dimethyl-aniline hydrochloride to form methylene
blue in the presence of ferric ammonium
sulphate.
