Abstract

A simple method is described for the estimation of
insecticides belonging to polychlorinated dimethanonaphthalene
group, viz. aldrin, dieldrin and endrin.
The m.ethod, based on rendering two chlorine atoms
in the insecticide m.olecuie labile with sodium m.onoethanolamine
reagent, consists in heating c. 5 mg. of the
insecticide with 1 111.1. mono or dlethanolamlne and
0·2-0'5 g. sodinm metal at lOO~tHrC.in glass_stoppered
test tubes for 2 hr and-then determining the chlorine
released potentiometrically.
