Abstract
Commercial samples of muskmelon [Cucumis melo L.], longmelon [C. melo var. utilissimus] and watermelon [Citrullus vulgaris Schrad.] seeds were analysed and found to be rich in fat and protein. Equilibrium relative humidities of muskmelon, longmelon and watermelon seeds were 50, 47 and 48% at initial moisture contents of 4.0, 4.0 and 4.3%, resp. at room temp. (30 ± 5°C). The quality of the respective seeds during storage remained good up to an equilibrium moisture content of 7.50, 8.53 and 10.94% (RH 75%) beyond which seeds were unacceptable and later became mouldy.
