Aspects reviewed include: methods of detection of storage insects and fungi in paddy and stored rice; variation of losses from country to country based on several factors; qualitative and quantitative aspects of grain losses; storage structures (small scale, rural and modern) and their disadvantages and advantages; and problems of toxicity of rice fungi.
