Abstract
Results of a study on packaging and storage of precooked and dehydrated rice and thur dhal (Cajanus cajan) are reported. Using a consumer package consisting of a double pouch of an inner regenerated cellulose film (300 MST) and an outer pouch of polycell, the precooked and dehydrated rice and thur dhal had a shelf-life of approximate equal to80 days under accelerated conditions of storage at 37 degree C and 90% RH and could be expected to have a shelf-life of approximate equal to5-6 months in regions of high humidity and approximate equal to8 months under inland field conditions.
