Abstract
Male Wistar rats 28 days old and about 62 g were given diets containing 9% protein without or with ragi husk for 4 weeks. Addition of ragi husk at 8% to the diet increased the small bowel length, the villous height in the duodenum and ileum, and increased the activity of chymotrypsin in pancreas and intestine. No differences were observed in the pH profile of the gastrointestinal tract or the activity of trypsin.
