Abstract
Fractions obtained by extraction of green field beans (Dolichos lablab) with 80% ethanol or 0.05 N HCl, then concentration, induced histopathological changes in the liver, intestine and spleen of rats and decreased growth. An acetate precipitate from the acid extract had high activities of trypsin inhibitor and haemagglutinin. This was the most potent growth-depressing factor and fatty fractions from ethanol or hexane extracts were also active.
